SYNLawn and the artificial grass industry

Get the latest information regarding SYNLawn, the artificial turf industry, landscaping trends and tips using synthetic grass.

Park Maitland School Revisited

Back in March 2005 in the article titled “SYNLawn Survives Three Hurricanes,” we told you about a SYNLawn synthetic grass installation at the Park Maitland School in Maitland, Florida. Park Maitland School installed SYNLawn in two separate areas of their campus in 2004. When we wrote the article in March 2005, the artificial turf had been installed for a year and just came out of Florida’s notorious hurricane season. Hurricanes Charley, Francis and Jeanne made their mark on a lot of Central Florida, but not a mark on the SYNLawn grass application. With another year gone by, and a few more hurricanes, we called the Park Maitland School to see how the turf was holding up this year.

SYNLawn Makes the Museum

Not only is the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry one of the nation's top science museums, it is also a world-class tourist attraction and educational resource. When it was time to construct one of their acclaimed exhibits, SYNLawn was a part of the plan. In the exhibit called “Animal Secrets,” habitats were created to explore the secret lives of forest animals. To create a realistic look, the museum used the most natural looking artificial grass they could find — SYNFescue Premium.

New World Water

The Fourth World Water Forum was held in Mexico City to discuss ways to deal with the very real and very dangerous problem of the dwindling supply of clean drinking water in the world. As described on the forum’s website, “the World Water Forum is an initiative of the World Water Council that has the aim of raising the awareness on water issues all over the world.” The main theme of this year’s forum is Local Actions for a Global Challenge. There’s no doubt that in order to extend the earth’s supply of consumable water, there has to be a conscious effort for every person that uses water to be more aware of the ways they use this valuable resource.

Rubber Playgrounds

A new feature is being added to a lot of playgrounds - the rubber floor. If you’ve ever stepped on a rubber floor, you’d know it. It’s like having a second bouncy sole attached to the sole of your shoe. While the rubber-floored playground is an upgrade to wood chips, dirt, concrete and asphalt, there’s still no comparison to a play area with a lush lawn. And one that is not only lush, but one that is also maintenance-free and looks beautiful all year long. SYNLawn makes it a reality.

Portland Trade Show(off)s

Whenever there’s an opportunity to show off, SYNLawn will be there. The new SYNLawn store in Beaverton, Oregon just opened in the first quarter of 2006 and would you believe the weekend they recently had? TWO shows in one weekend! At the same time! Talk about enthusiasm and you’re talking about the people that get to share SYNLawn with the world.
