Now is the perfect time to replace your natural grass landscape with artificial grass in Nevada. As of the first of this year, the Southern Nevada Water Authority has enhanced it's Water Smart Landscapes (WSL) Rebate Program to allow for even bigger rebates for residents. This is good news for homeowners and businesses converting to artificial grass, especially those with larger lawn areas. The most significant change in the rebate program for 2008 is removal of the 1,500 square foot limit. This year, no matter how large your lawn, every inch of converted natural grass will qualify towards a $1.50 per square foot rebate. Quite simply, the more natural grass you replace with artificial grass the more money you will get back.
Since its inception in 1999, the rebate program has helped reduce water consumption in the state by 18 billion gallons, despite the addition of over 300,000 new residents. In 2007, the community converted more than 19.5 million square feet of grass. Qualifying residents received $2 per square foot, up to 1,500 square feet, for converting their landscapes. With this new incentive for 2008, the SNWA Board hopes to "increase the appeal for large projects" by removing the 1,500 square foot cap.
It's time to do your part. If you live in Southern Nevada, there has never been a better time to convert your natural grass to artificial grass. For more information on this artificial grass rebate program visit the Southern Nevada Water Authority web site.
