Synthetic Grass, Sincere Generosity

As SYNLawn continues to grow in the Great White North, we continue to tell the tale... Before we share how we helped the Rotary Club in Kelowna, British Columbia, allow us to share a bit about what Rotary is. It seems most places you go, you’re bound to come across a Rotary Club. So what is it and what do they do? (If you’re involved with one or already know, feel free to skip ahead.)

The Acceptable Fake Diamond

What do a cubic zirconia and SYNLawn artificial turf have in common? They both make fake diamonds ... at least at California’s Westchester Lutheran School ... and ours looks much better. You have probably figured out by now that we installed synthetic grass on the baseball diamond at the California school.

Synergy in the Community

The SYNLawn Turf Showroom and Design Center in Beaverton, Oregon is a feast for the eyes. In designing the center, the look had to accommodate SYNLawn synthetic turf’s various designs, while utilizing a few of the numerous application possibilities. The care that went into designing the Beaverton store is the result of creating cooperative interaction with area businesses. Why else build a store with a comfortable conference room for landscapers and architects to meet with their clients?

Park Maitland School Revisited

Back in March 2005 in the article titled “SYNLawn Survives Three Hurricanes,” we told you about a SYNLawn synthetic grass installation at the Park Maitland School in Maitland, Florida. Park Maitland School installed SYNLawn in two separate areas of their campus in 2004. When we wrote the article in March 2005, the artificial turf had been installed for a year and just came out of Florida’s notorious hurricane season. Hurricanes Charley, Francis and Jeanne made their mark on a lot of Central Florida, but not a mark on the SYNLawn grass application. With another year gone by, and a few more hurricanes, we called the Park Maitland School to see how the turf was holding up this year.

SYNLawn Makes the Museum

Not only is the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry one of the nation's top science museums, it is also a world-class tourist attraction and educational resource. When it was time to construct one of their acclaimed exhibits, SYNLawn was a part of the plan. In the exhibit called “Animal Secrets,” habitats were created to explore the secret lives of forest animals. To create a realistic look, the museum used the most natural looking artificial grass they could find — SYNFescue Premium.

New Mexico Ronald McDonald House

It’s stressful enough to have a family member that requires specific medical attention, but when the required facility is miles away from your home, the expenses can be overwhelming. That’s where the Ronald McDonald House Charities come in. The Ronald McDonald House program began in 1974 and has since become Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). The three core programs of RMHC - the Ronald McDonald House, Ronald McDonald Family Room and Ronald McDonald Care Mobile - are all focused on helping families in need. Since 1982, the New Mexico Ronald McDonald House in Albuquerque has provided an affordable “home away from home” for families with ill or injured children being cared for at nearby Albuquerque medical facilities. Enter Dale Mochko and the Janet Vargas Memorial Children’s Cancer Fund (JVMF).

Greening up the Roadways

In a move that is being watched by cities across the country, Los Angeles began testing artificial grass in a test median along a busy Los Angeles street. The center median of one city block of Sherman Way was converted from colored concrete to SYNLawn artificial grass last summer. Now, after several months, the test has expanded to other parts of the city.
