That was the message from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) regarding concerns of harmful levels of lead in artificial turf. The CPSC released their findings last week after a nationwide evaluation of artificial grass playing surfaces over the past several months. The surfaces tested ranged in age from 10 years installed to less than one year installed and in all cases there was no risk of harmful exposure to lead for children playing on the grass.

"Parents should not be concerned about harmful levels of lead in artificial turf," CPSC spokesperson Julie Vallese said. Newer surfaces "generally had the lowest levels," a summary of the evaluation said, and while "small amounts of lead were detected on the surface of the older fields, none of these tested fields released amounts of lead that would be harmful to children."

SYNLawn saves green with water rebates

A Moreno Valley homeowner and SYNLawn customer was recently featured in a article published by PE.com - The Press Enterprise highlighting a 50-cent per square foot rebate on synthetic turf available to residential and commercial customers throughout the Los Angeles based Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. The rebate increased from 30-cents p/s/f to 50-cents as of July 1st and is part of a campaign to promote water conservation and more efficient water use.

Use More Fake Grass and Get More Money Back

Now is the perfect time to replace your natural grass landscape with artificial grass in Nevada. As of the first of this year, the Southern Nevada Water Authority has enhanced it's Water Smart Landscapes (WSL) Rebate Program to allow for even bigger rebates for residents. This is good news for homeowners and businesses converting to artificial grass, especially those with larger lawn areas. The most significant change in the rebate program for 2008 is removal of the 1,500 square foot limit. This year, no matter how large your lawn, every inch of converted natural grass will qualify towards a $1.50 per square foot rebate. Working Towards a Greener Grass

SYNLawn is concerned with our environment. Our polyurethane backing uses BioBalance™ polymers, a manufactured polyurethane with a portion of the petroleum removed and replaced with soy bean oil. In addition, we add Celceram™, a recovered product of coal combustion from electrical power plants, for stabilization and strength. And finally, a non-woven secondary backing made from 100% post-consumer waste is attached to our polyurethane cushion backed products. This manufacturing process of our backing takes our commitment to the environment one step further. SYNLawn artificial turf products can range from 55-65% green by weight.
